While this doesn't seem like much of a change, if you consider the power that our air conditioning machines use when the temperatures rise, the amount of electricity they use would increase drastically. There have been several tests where a variety of alternative energy fuel sources have been ran on closed systems, and these tests showed that the amount of pollution caused by the resulting electrical output was actually less than that from running conventional vehicles on the open road.
